Address: Abchurch Lane, EC4N 7BA
Usual opening times: Monday-Tuesday 11am-3pm
Description: Designed by Wren 1681-86. A red brick exterior with stone dressings and tower with leaded spire. The interior, however, comes as a complete surprise and is one of the finest in the City. Again, no two walls are at right angles, but the sense of geometry is marvellously sustained superb woodwork and a painted domed ceiling. The grand altar-piece is by Grinling Gibbons. Although it suffered during the War, it was restored by Godfrey Allen.
