| History | Wren 1681-87. A red brick exterior with stone dressings and tower with leaded spire. The interior, however, comes as a complete surprise and is one of the finest in the City. Again, no two walls are at right angles, but the sense of geometry is marvellously sustained superb woodwork and a painted domed ceiling. The grand altar-piece is by Grinling Gibbons. Although it suffered during the War, it was restored by Godfrey Allen. | ||||||
