| History | St Brides with its Roman pavement dated as 180AD, is one of the oldest sites of Christian Worship in the City. The present church (by Wren) was partially destroyed by bombing in 1940 but the walls and steeple (Wren's tallest) remain. The crypt has evidence of the earlier churches and a history of the church. All night vigils for John McCarthy and the hostages were held here and every day begins with an act of public worship. | ||||||||||||
